What I Added to Enhance My Wellness This Fall

what i added to enhance my wellness this fall

If you need a wellness boost, here’s a few things you can try to add to your routine to help build your immune system or give you that little extra something you might be looking for. Transitioning into the fall season is one of my favorite things to do because I love to be cozy and the vibrant autumn colors are so beautiful. It’s a whole vibe.

My Fall Wellness Boost Round-up

Daily Movement

You already know I am huge on moving your body. It’s colder out now, but that doesn’t mean you stop. If anything, this is the time to really find what works for your schedule and pin point what types of workouts you enjoy!

It’s Fall, ya’ll. I have found that going for walks can still happen (and as a Dog mom, still very necessary). All you have to do is bundle up. Wear a new beanie and scarf combo each week, grab your coat and gloves, and get out there to get your steps in.

Have a free weekend to make a day trip? This is the best time to find a hike, do some research, and if you’re in the Pacific Northwest like me you won’t regret it. The fall hikes in Washington are unmatched! I recently did a Northern Cascades hike to catch the infamous Larches and took my dog and myself for a hike. It was the perfect fall day to get outdoors and see the changing colors. We experienced Mother Nature’s magical ways high up in the sky.

The other thing I have incorporated into my fall movement routine is a morning yoga flow! I dress pretty cozy for this, unroll my mat, and start with big deep breaths. Starting my morning this way has been really good for my blood flow, mental state, and tight and tense muscles.

Healthy Snacks & Seasonal treats

I used to be a big pumpkin spice gal. I still love it, but in moderation. I found that nourishing your body during the fall can take you a long way through what sometimes feels like an endless, cold, darker, winter season. We want to set our immune systems for success. Enjoying something warm at the start or end of my day is super cozy and yes I’ll continue to incorporate cozy into my fall wellness routine because it is a feeling that I love!

Bone Broth. Packed with natural collagen, protein, and major health benefits. I would replace your morning coffee with this if I were you. You might think I am crazy, but the benefits bone broth has outweighs the energy that coffee might or might not offer you. Bone broth helps with joint health, digestion, skin health, immune system, and is an anti-inflammatory. Need I say more?

The other thing that I make sure to do is add seasonal foods to my diet. I learned from my Chef friend (Chef Dana Minuta, founder of Boards) that we want to cook with produce and ingredients that are in season. I have already made Butternut Squash soup and later this week I’ll be using spaghetti squash! Using seasonal ingredients you start to think local and how fresh your produce is. Seasonal foods are packed with nutrients — vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals. It also develops your palette. This is something new that I have started doing in the last 10 years.

Other things I include in my daily wellness are

  • turmeric
  • ginger
  • lemon
  • honey

Self-love & Self-care

In order to practice self-love you have to practice self-care. A friendly reminder that self-care looks different for everyone, but I also want to add in that self-care is far more than just pampering yourself. It’s easy to fall back and rely on face masks, lash lifts, and beauty things and call it self-care, but we can do better. Self-care can also look like journaling, practicing positive affirmations, making time for the things that you love.

Self-care is something that can boost relaxation but also boost your confidence. For me, this Fall, I have added reading to my list. I am big on self-development books year round, but this Fall I am diving into pleasure books. Reading for fun! It’s fall. Turn up the heat, grab a blanket, and curl up to read that book you have been putting off. Make some tea and get lost in your book.

My Fall Go-To Products That Help Me Thrive

Move pro by Le-Vel. What is it? It’s a joint capsule that supports flexibility and mobility, it is designed to help support joint cartilage, designed to ease general discomfort, and is packed with collagen, glucosamine, turmeric extract, white willow bark extract, and more. The most natural ingredients that are beneficial proteins to help you keep moving through fall and winter as best as you can. That’s all we can do, our best! I love it because, personally, it has relieved old injuries of mine to the point I no longer complain of the aches and pains. It’s the bees knees and a must add to your fall routine!

Portland Bee Balm is a year round thing, but during the colder months especially! I love their Oregon mint bee balm. After one application of it, I don’t feel like I need to do anymore throughout the day. It keeps my lips hydrated and works. I won’t use anything else for these smackers.

Then of course, my skincare routine does transition into the fall and I begin to use Mario Badescu‘s rose water spray much more often to keep my skin feeling dewy and hydrated. I love the glow that it gives me too! Then I also like to add the vitamin C serum and hyaluronic eye cream to my fall regimen as well. The cold winds can be harsh on our face so I love Mario’s products because their gentle with my skin.

The last thing is that I upkeep my vitamin routine. The only thing about this that changes is my shake flavor and lucky for us, Le-Vel has those seasonal flavors we love such as pumpkin spice, snickerdoodle, and even gingerbread! Using this 3-step vitamin routine is essential towards my mood, my energy, and how I feel as a whole. I can’t leave this out of a wellness round-up because it truly plays a big role in my life, especially on busy days when I am juggling being a daughter, auntie, dog-mom, friend, and gigging. Whatever it may be, Thrive has got me.
