Happy October or should I say CrOctober? I can’t believe it’s already Week 5 of Football. Everyone loves to watch their teams play and of course snack, eat, have a beverage throughout. I’m on a mission to maintain my mindful eating habits especially when football is on. There’s a few things I look for in a recipe– If it’s easy, guilt-free, and will still fulfill those cravings that we all get on game day! Bust out your crockpot and let’s get this party started. Side note you can have these cook on low or high and adjust times accordingly. If you have one of those new slow cookers that are actually fast, play with the settings. Personally, because I am usually cooking for 1 something on the smaller side works great for me and it’s easy to store too!

Crazy About Poppi
My most recent obsession and I really don’t think it is a phase (because being healthy isn’t a phase for me) is Poppi! First of all, soda is back and it’s all thanks to Poppi. It’s a prebiotic soda with only 3-4g of sugar. I haven’t had all the flavors, but every flavor I have had has been delicious. My favorite is Orange Poppi, it taste better than the other orange sodas out there. Cherry Limeade is a close second! Honestly, you should be replacing all of your sodas with Poppi, make it a lifestyle change. See if your comrades even notice the difference. Where have you been all of my life? Perfection.

Spinach Artichoke Dip
- 1 Bag of Frozen Spinach, defrost and squeeze pat dry
- 2 cans of artichokes drained and sliced
- 3-6 garlic gloves chopped and diced
- Salt to taste
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Black pepper
- 1 Small container of cottage cheese
- Chicken Stock, low sodium
- Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup of grated parmesan cheese
- Add cream cheese if you want it to be creamy (Kite Hill is a dairy free option to use here)
Start with your spinach, artichoke, garlic cloves, and seasonings in the crockpot. Blend your cottage cheese until it is creamy and no longer looks like cottage cheese. You can add a little splash of low sodium chicken broth to the blender to help with consistency. Mix the blended mix into the crockpot with the other ingredients. Turn crockpot on low and add cheeses. Continue to mix and add cream cheese if you need to make it more creamy. Serve warm! Drool.
Game Day Wings
I was not going to just give you a bunch of chilis and dips. This one is my go-to. it’S TOO easy.
- Chicken drumsticks or tenders thawed
- Salt
- Pepper
- BBQ Sauce
- Avocado Oil Spray or EVOO
Spray your oil around and all inside your crockpot. Throw your chicken into your crockpot and season with salt and pepper and add your favorite BBQ sauce to add on top of your wings. Mix it up so your chicken is nicely coated. Cook on high for 4 hours. Halfway through cooking, brush on more BBQ sauce. Once the 4 hours is done pop your chicken into the oven and broil for 5 minutes to get it nice and toasted! Cut into one and make sure your chicken is cooked.
Please tag me if you try any of these or if you have modified and made it better! I’d love to see what healthy snacks and appetizers you’re making for your game day crew. Also, here to try your recipes as well so comment below and let me know what I should throw into my slow cooker! Feel free to make the other versions of this too where it is not dairy or gluten free, but I bet you’ll love this just the same and won’t feel like falling into a deep sleep after eating it. My family loves Sunday football and typically don’t notice I’ve substituted ingredients! Sh, don’t tell them ha! GO HAWKS!
